Yesterday it finally arrived, my much longed for Beauty Blender!! I was so excited to open it up and find out myself what the hype was about. ☺
The first thing that hit me when I opened the packaging was how tiny it is. I didn't measure it, but according to a page on amazon it measures 3.5 x 3.5 x 3.8 inches (7,6 x 7,6 x 7,8 cm) and weighs 0,2 ounces (5,6 g). It is much smaller than I was expecting. Anyway, I went to bed excited to try it out this morning.
After having soaked the Beauty Blender under my bathroom faucet I watched it expand to twice it's original sixze! It's pretty awesome stuff. ☺ What stood out to me most was how it does not retain water, at all. Comparing it to my Miracle Complexion sponge from Real Techniques, the Miracle Complexion sponge retains a lot more water, which isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on the result you want.
As far as application goes, it applies like a dream. ♥ I really love it. But, even though the Miracle complexion sponge retains more water, I'd say that these sponges apply foundation very similarly. As the Miracle Complexion sponge retains more water, it does apply foundation more dewy. But again, which sponge you like best will pretty much depend on what foundation you use and what result you want.
When it comes to texture of the sponge itself, and the material it's made of. The Beauty Blender is made from latex-free material ("non-latex foam"), which makes it hypoallergenic. The Miracle Complexion Sponge is made from polyurethane foam, which is also latex free - but there's just something missing. The Beauty Blender is much lighter and feels much more luxurious (hence the outrageous price), whereas the Real Techniques Sponge is much denser.
Here's my conclusion: all in all, I really love the texture of this sponge - it's much bouncier than the Miracle complexion sponge. It's also much lighter, and you can tell that there's a difference in quality. I honestly can't find anything wrong with it, but I will say that I don't think it's worth it's full price. If you have the money to splurge on it, then by all means go right ahead. It's an amazing product and I really love it. I would definitely recommend it to other people. But if you don't have the money, or feel like spending that amount of cash on a sponge (because, let's be real - who does?) then the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge works just as well. ☺

Man känner kvalitetsskillnaden i svamparna.
